Harvest Moon Burleigh is off James St in the central arcade.
House Bircher muesli with house made honey labna - $12.50 very nice
Jon Holden is a local, a trained chef and advertising man, so naturally let's start a cafe and tapas bar. Lucikly for us, Harvest Moon Burleigh is a very nice cafe during the day and much needed tapas bar at night.
The menu has the normal cafe food dishes plus a few that really sets Harvest Moon apart from the pack. The Huevos Rancheros is a great example and a stunning dish.
The 'Noyna' Chicken was a nice dish but the only ingredient that in any way make this a 'Nonya' dish is the curry sauce. Nonya (Nyonya) or 'Peranakan' cuisine is one of my all time favourite cuisines. Migrants from southern China that settled in penisular Malaya, Singapore and Indonesia hundreds of years ago and the natural evolution of Chinese and Malay culture and foods (throw in southern Indian and Portuguese) has created this amazing cuisine now very popular in those countries. If you are a foodie and love southern Chinese, Malay or Indonesian foods, then one of the items on your 'bucket list' is to experience this cuisine. Best way, plan a trip or stopover in Singapore or KL and ask the locals or your taxi driver for the best 'Peranakan' eateries or restaurants and enjoy.
Sorry Jon for carrying on about my favourite cuisine. Hopefully Jon will still invite us back to shoot Harvest Moon bar and his tapas food.
